Jenna goed to the Dentist

If you noticed the bad grammar in the title, it is purposeful. On Wednesday, January, 18th, Jenna went to the dentist for the first time. In her words, she would say, "I goed to the dentist." She says this all the time in reference to places she "went." I have to record it now before kindergarten fixes it.
She looks nervous in this one, but she really wasn't. So, I made her pose for another one.
 Ready!
They gave her these sunglasses to block out the bright light (they didn't give me any). She got to keep them and calls them her "dude glasses." She told the dental hygienist that she had a doctor kit at home. So, she asked Jenna if that's what she wanted to be when she grew up. Jenna said, "No, I want to be a church teacher." A few days later Jenna said to me, "Mommy, I changed my mind. When I grow up, I want to be one of Daddy's students and play the recorder." When she was finished at the dentist, she exclaimed, "I love going to the dentist! It's better than going to IT'Z!" (IT'Z is her favorite place lately: pizza, games, movies showing while you eat, etc.)
And of course, after you go to the dentist, you have to play dentist! She very cleverly propped Daddy up on the slide. And used the tubing from her toy blood pressure cuff as the vacuum to suck the water/saliva.
Counting Daddy's teeth, he has "twenty." And doesn't she have a cute little assistant?!

From the archives of Kevin's iphone

Jenna and Kevin having some fun with cousin's new costume. Are we the only ones who think this is funny? (See 0434 video in Christmas '11 folder.)

Just for Fun

Amidst all the Christmas/New Year/Daddy's home from work celebration, some fun milestones were occurring as well. Those top right teeth finally came through. Top right central incisor - December 17th and top right lateral incisor - December 21st. It's so funny to me that the last tooth is what I thought would be the first tooth!
The boy loves pancakes!
He has surprised me with how quickly he has taken to drinking milk and has mastered the sippy cup. It took Jenna MONTHS to get the hang of it. He started giving "high fives" upon request on December 26th and started shaking his head "yes" to almost any question on December 28th. Along with the "yes" head shake, he makes something like a "yes" sound that is just too cute!
You may be wondering why a lot of my pictures of Kellen are of him in his high chair. The boy loves cameras. Here's how things usually go: He is doing something so cute and picture necessary. I get out the camera and he immediately stops doing the cute thing and makes a mad dash for the camera. His favorite toy at Papa and Mima's house is a broken camera. He oh-so-cutely holds it up to his forehead to take pictures.

Big day for Kellen, December 27th - three steps! Enjoy: (See video 3164.)

Oh, how I love these guys! (Kevin's vacuuming AND creatively keeping Kellen occupied.)

Jenna's been busy, too. We noticed her skipping for the first time on December 27th. And here's a little ditty that she does that always makes me smile. Not sure why she does it or where it came from, but it's fun! (See "Oh, yea!" video in Jenna 4 yrs old folder.)

Christmas

I already posted this picture, but I just had to again. They are just too cute - all dressed up! Merry belated Christmas to you!
We spent a quiet Christmas - just the four of us. It was great! Jenna woke up and asked if she could watch a movie. I guess she had forgotten what day it was. Jenna got the rocking horse she was wanting and named it Brown Beauty. We waited to open presents until Kellen woke up. Jenna was very patient. We spent our time waiting by eating breakfast and reading some verses about Jesus.
Kellen got a "bup" (bus) as Jenna used to call it. Jenna had one of these at his age, but it broke. It was definitely time for another one. He loves it!
Happy girl.
The bow stuck to his left hip makes me smile.

After the gifts were opened and played with a little, I took the kids to church while Kevin stayed home to recuperate some more. Then we had a nice lunch at home and a quiet afternoon. Perfect.
On the 26th, we congregated at Papa and Mima's to celebrate Christmas with our Colorado family.
I wish I could post all the outtakes for these few pictures. It's pretty difficult to get all these kids to look in the same direction much less smile at the same time. This one is pretty great.
Kellen and his stocking contents.
He loved the wrapping paper!
He even got into the un-wrapping a little.
Jenna's cousin got a Darth Vader costume and everyone enjoyed it. Here's Darth Jenna . . .
and Darth Baby.
Mima got the same pjs for all the kids and then embroidered their names.
Cute little elves!
I can't decide which one I like the best, so you get to see all of these. Maybe I'm biased, but is he the cutest baby, or what?!
On the 28th, we made the annual trek to the zoo lights. Jenna has always loved the hippos and was excited to get her picture taken with this one!

We've been soaking in the last few days of Kevin's vacation. Sleeping in, playing, watching football and movies. Just two more days now - we don't want it to end!
