The Parties

Evening, Tuesday, May 30th - The family party - both sets of Grandparents, Uncle Geremy, Aunt Heather, the cousins, Kevin, Kellen, and I. The menu - egg casserole, blueberry pancakes, blueberry pie, and birthday cake ice cream.

So many nice gifts and a good time had by all!
Jenna was very generous and let the cousins help hatch her new hatchimals.
Tuesday, June 6th - Jenna wanted to have a friends mini-golf outing/party for her birthday. Most of her friends we invited were out of town, but Bella and the cousins were able to make it.

We were able to get one round in before clouds started darkening. The we ate our cupcakes in the parking lot (no outside food or drink allowed at the mini-golf place). We finished just in time as the first rain drops fell. It was a fun time!

Jenna 10.0

Jenna is 10 years old today! Double digits - I can hardly believe it! She is 54 1/8 inches tall and weighs 72.8 lbs. That's 3 1/8 inches and 12.6 lbs she's grown since turning 9.
And a silly one of course!
We had a fun time at the North Pole today. And we will be celebrating today with a big family dinner. Her requests: egg casserole, blueberry pancakes, and blueberry pie.
She had another great school year. Her favorite subjects are math and history. Her favorite book is "The One and Only Ivan" and her favorite color is green. She continues to love piano and has a great ear for music. Her piano teacher recently said that she's really starting to put it all together. When she grows up, she wants to be a vet or a professional piano player.
She likes comic book format in books and wrote a few of her own. I especially like "Blue Fury."
On Sunday, while we were waiting for a table at The Pantry for lunch, we took the kids across the street to the playground and she invented a game of "Awkward Sleeping Places." So funny!
She's growing up so fast, but she's still little girl enough to ride the penny horse at the grocery store.
And she can pretend to be a movie star, but she still has knuckle dimples.
She is starting to become more independent and helpful around the house (she's great at vacuuming). In the picture above, she's learning to make deviled eggs. She is a great daughter and sister. She is lovely, fun, kind, smart, creative, funny, and a friend to all. We love our Jenna!

Even More End of Year Happenings

Kellen's teacher has read every Mercy Watson book to the class and after every book is finished, she holds a "tea and hot buttered toast" party. She brings in real china each time! Monday, May 22nd at 8:00am was the last "tea and hot buttered toast" and parents were invited. She had all the boys in the class escort each lady (including the kindergarten ladies) into the room. It was so much fun!

Mmm - hot buttered toast!
Home for a bit, then back to pick up Kellen at 11:15am. We ate a quick lunch in the car and then back inside school for Jenna's class' performance of The Merchant of Venice at 11:45. Then home for a bit, then I was off to work 3pm - 7pm.
During the tea, Kellen bit into a piece of watermelon that was a little bit frozen and really loosened up an already loose tooth. So, Monday night, he had Kevin pull it out. It was tough to get a good picture out of him. But I love this one because I caught him mid laugh.
A silly one - of course!
Tuesday, May 23rd - (Next to last day of 4th grade for Jenna, last day of kindergarten for Kellen!) At 8:00 am, Kellen's class showed a slide show of their year. Then I had to go to the store and get napkins for Jenna's birthday treats and get back to school for them by 10:00am.
The day before 4th grade - Mrs. Eggert, Jenna, & Mrs. Eyberg
She chose cream puffs for her treat. It was a fun day for her - she had been looking forward to the special chair and hat for quite a while.
After Jenna's birthday with her class, there was just an hour left before Kellen finished his last day of kindergarten! So, I found his class out on the field - parachutes! So fun!
First day of Kindergarten
Last day of Kindergarten - this year just flew by!!
Just a little before school was out, we heard the Thunderbirds start practicing for the Air Force Academy Graduation the next day. So, Mrs. Conn took the class out to watch! Pretty cool to finish your last day of Kindergarten by watching the Thunderbirds!
Wednesday, May 24 - Jenna's last day of school - a half day - so she arrived home in time to see the Thunderbirds performance for the AFA graduation.

Watching the show from our deck is one of our favorite traditions to ring in summer!

After the air show, we enjoyed root beer floats to celebrate our new 1st and 5th graders! Welcome summer!

More End of Year Happenings

Wednesday, May 17 - No school for elementary so that teachers could attend a special day for seniors. It was a beautiful day, so we went to the zoo.

It was a perfect day at the zoo and we had a great time! Then we enjoyed a late lunch at Chick-fil-A.

Thursday morning, May 18 - We woke up to SNOW! Crazy!

Also Thursday morning, May 18 - Kellen's class performed a Patriotic program. It was so cute. They all memorized the preamble to the Constitution as well as several songs, poems, and quotes.
Thankfully, the snow ended and even melted some. We didn't get as much as they predicted and Kevin was able to have his last day of school today. Some of his students had a snow ball fight today - on the last day of school! Crazy!
