Red

This boy. His favorite color is red. So, when it came time for him to have a hair cut this week, he convinced Kevin that he NEEDED the red attachment for the clippers.
This is what your hair will look like if you use the red attachment. Pretty cute after some getting used to.
In other news, the kids enjoyed doing KYDS Radio again at Focus on the Family. Kellen especially enjoyed the "brooming" sound effects.

Daddy/Daughter Ball

Saturday, February 6th, was the annual Daddy/Daughter Ball at Papa & Mima's church. Jenna looks forward to this every year - such a great event! And it's free! Mima offered to make Jenna a new dress and Jenna had a fun time picking out the pattern and fabric. It turned out beautifully!
Silly!
It was fun to have a cousin there!

They ate, then danced the night away
While they were having their fun, Kellen and I had a date of our own. Per his request, we drove through Chick-fil-a and brought our food home - so he could stay in his PJs and eat while watching a rental movie (Big Hero 6). A fun time was had by all!

Viking Day

Friday, February 5th was Viking Day for 3rd grade. I made her vest and boot cuffs from Mima's fur scraps. She's wearing one of my shirts, helmet borrowed from friends, her skirt, belt, & boots.
One of the favorite activities was the human Viking Chess game. Jenna was chosen to be the king. She thought that was fun!
They made a rune stone with their name written in the Viking alphabet.
"Jenna"
They had a Viking war with paper hammers and stones.
Rice pudding - yum!

41

On Thursday, February 4th, we were finally able to celebrate Kevin's 41st birthday.
During Jenna's sewing lessons, she made a present for him and had been eagerly waiting for him to open it - new comfy shorts for sleeping!
Love!
The unavoidable goofy picture . . .
and one that's slightly better. So proud of our girl and her sewing projects!

A Record - 3 Snow Days

Saturday night, January 30th, snow started falling and it didn't really stop until Tuesday afternoon, February 2nd. We got about 19 inches and an unprecedented 3 snow days in a row out of the whole deal.
Sunday and Monday were pretty uneventful around here. We went to church, relaxed, watched some shows, I did some tagging for JBF, and Monday was normal laundry day.
Tuesday was more of the same, except there were a few more things that needed to get done. Jenna and I made salt dough for her upcoming Viking Day at school.
And she needed to try it out.
Then, we decided that we needed to make cookies - a must for a snow day, right? We had all the ingredients for M&M cookies except for the M&Ms. So, I scavenged through the kids' candy stash and managed to find enough!
Jenna decided it was time to get out and play in the snow! Kevin joined her for awhile. But it was much too cold for Kellen and I.
I met my goal of getting all the JBF tagging done on Tuesday. So, I was free to really enjoy Snow Day #3 on Wednesday. By now, we just had to get out of the house and the sun had come out, too. Chick-fil-a was offering free breakfast if you purchase a drink or something, so we went out for free breakfast. And then we headed to Papa and Mima's house and the best sledding in town. The street in front of their house is a great run!
The trees, front range, & Pikes Peak were so pretty!
 Our niece/sledding buddy & me
Jenna had a great time digging a little hole to fit in.

He-who-hates-layers-coats-&-cold didn't participate. This picture makes me think of that song "All By Myself." He was pretty happy coloring & watching us from inside. He would occasionally come out to get his bare hands in the snow.
After lunch, we made the trek through the "animal park" to some more favorite sledding hills.

The guys did the double hill again. I got this run of Kevin's (probably the worst one) most of the time he made it all the way down without incident. My phone was having issues so I didn't get much.
The girls stuck with a single hill. Our niece started out only wanting to sled with me, then she got braver and went with Jenna. By the end, she worked up her courage and went on her own. I could tell it took a lot of courage - so proud of her. (See videos in "Snow 2015-2016" folder)

A Snow Day Squabble

We had a snow day today. With about 10 inches so far and more to come, we'll probably have another one tomorrow. Jenna and Kellen usually get along and play together very well. But something must have gone awry. I came downstairs to hear Jenna say, "No, Kellen I didn't do that. You little liar." And then Kellen yelled, "JENNA!! I am NOT LITTLE!!"

I had to leave the room to laugh and laugh. Then I told Kevin and laughed some more. And then, Jenna and I had to have a little talk about how it's not nice to call someone a liar.
