Other August Happenings
Thursday, August 19th - We celebrated Mima's birthday at Thursday night dinner. I made a lemon meringue pie - it looked great but, once again, soupy.

Sunday, August 22nd - Heather ran the Pikes Peak Marathon. We went to church, ate lunch in Manitou with Papa and Mima, then found a spot to cheer her to the finish.
7 hours 50 minutes - amazing!
Such an amazing accomplishment!
Sunday, August 22nd - After being sick for a while, Cosmo died. Jenna still had to write a poem for school and somehow, she managed to write this amazing poem all while being so very sad about Cosmo. We are all so very sad. He was a good pet and friend.
Thursday and Friday August 26 & 27 - Kellen was out of school so teachers could do literacy testing. We started tackling the pirate ship that he started last spring break, again.
The riggings and sails - so complicated! We're making progress though!
We also got the movie Scoob! from the library and enjoyed watching it and the "How to Draw Scooby Doo" tutorial extra!Saturday, August 21, 2021
First Day of School
Wednesday, August 18th - Jenna's first day of high school. It was a soft start with just freshmen. Pink - it's their assigned class color that will stay with them for all four years. Why? I don't know. They're wearing it all this week and then for special class days.

While Jenna was at camp, Papa took Kellen to do pottery painting.

Kellen got good news - no more crutches, no cast, and three weeks of surgical shoe then regular shoe. Jenna and Kellen have been talking about having never been to McDonald's before, so when the pork Kevin was smoking didn't get finished in time for dinner - McDonald's for them!
And, Jenna needed something to do today, so she looked up recipes and made a cake from scratch!
Saturday, August 7th - The band did a showcase of what they've learned so far and brought family down to learn.
