70!

For my Dad's 70th birthday, we cooked up a surprise that we would all be together. The way that Katie's flights turned out, we got the benefit of extra days with her and Owen! She arrived Tuesday evening, March 21st.
Kellen wore this shirt to the airport to pick up Katie and Owen. This is the same thing he had on when we took an all cousin photo with Owen at Christmas. Kellen said, "I'm going to wear this so that Owen will remember me. If I wore something he hasn't seen before, he might not recognize me!" So cute!
We enjoyed Wednesday and Thursday with her - mostly doing kid shuffling, grocery shopping to prepare for the weekend, and lots of playing with Owen.
Kellen loved making muffins with Aunt Katie!
My parents arrived Thursday, March 23rd - quite the surprise when Katie and Owen answered the door!
Fun!
Thursday night, we had a blizzard and awoke Friday, the 24th to lots of white - about 9 inches of it!

We enjoyed a lazy jammie day. There's just something about my kids in footie pjs that I just can't resist!
Friday was THE birthday, so we celebrated with our family's favorite cake - Italian Cream.

Saturday, March 25th - Kevin and I went to the airport to pick up Dad's next surprise - Matt, Leslie, & Lincoln!

We all drove up to Green Mountain Falls and The Pantry for lunch.

 Delicious as always!

Papa & Mima were out of town and they graciously gave us use of their house to have more room to spread out and enjoy the day.
Cousin tummy time!

We watched basketball and held babies . . .

took some family photos . . .
and ate more cake!
Sunday March 26th - Dad & Kevin took Katie and Owen to the airport, then we all went to church.
After lunch, we went back to the Whitelaws.
There was more basketball watching.
And sleeping - I think we all took naps at some point and not all at the same time! I don't think we were all awake at the same time until dinner! Ha!
There was skating.

And hockey playing. Uncle Matt even tried out the pogo stick!

There was lots of baby holding!

We enjoyed laughing together at America's Funniest Home videos.
Leslie brought sparklers to help celebrate the birthday. Saturday night, after the KU game, when Katie was still with us, it was too late to do them. So, we pulled them out Sunday night.
It was fun and a great way to celebrate! So glad she took a risk and smuggled them into her suitcase! Thank you TSA for not confiscating them!

Monday March 27th - Dad & Mom took Matt, Leslie, & Lincoln to the airport and then headed home themselves. The kids and I went over to the Whitelaws to take care of bed laundry and such. After 4 nights in a row of staying up late, Kellen couldn't take it anymore. He fell asleep on the way home and stayed asleep in the car for a couple hours!! What a fun time we had!

100 Days

Kellen - 1st Day of School
Kellen - 100th Day of School
Thursday, March 23rd - Kellen's class celebrated 100 days of school. Each child was required to have a shirt with 100 things. Kellen wanted to draw horses on his shirt. He drew 10 a day for 10 days.
You can tell he was less enthused as the days wore on - from elaborate to stick figure. But, he persevered!

It was a special day - Daddy was able to come for a while, too! Kellen said it was the best day ever!
