Cross Country

Jenna has been training on the cross country team every weekday from 3:20 - 4:45pm, since August 14th.
Their first meet was Wednesday, August 28th in Elizabeth, Colorado. Jenna is easy to spot in the videos - navy uniform, white visor. (See videos in "Jenna 7th Grade 2019-2020" folder.)

She loved her first race! 16:55 for a mile and a half!

Squeezing in a little more summer

Saturday, August 17th - While Kevin was at marching band, the kids and I went to the zoo and had a fun time at the teddy bear clinic. Kellen took Winner the horse and Jenna took Throckmorton McGuberstein the bunny to get xrays, casts, and medicine.

Cute and fun!
The baby giraffe was so cute!
Saturday, August 24th - While Kevin was at marching band (again), Papa, Mima, and I took the cousins to the Woodland Park Aquatic Center. I was glad to be able to go this time as I didn't get to go last time. It's a really neat place. And it was fun to see Kellen improving his diving skills. (See videos in "Summer '19" folder.)

First Days 2019

Tuesday night, August 13th - School supply drop off and meet the teacher. Kellen is excited to have Mrs. Hartzo this year.
Wednesday, August 14th - 7th Grade Boot Camp. A "practice" first day. Jenna and Grant were excited to find their lockers right next to each other. Simply amazing!!

Thursday, August 15th - Official first day for everyone. Kevin - 2nd year TCA; Jenna - 7th grade; Kellen - 3rd grade. Kellen was not happy to have his picture taken before 7am when Kevin and Jenna had to leave. No one was really in the mood this year, thus no silly pictures this time. Next year, I am taking first day pictures the night before, or after school.

By Kellen's 7:50am leave time, he was in a little better mood for pictures, but not much. Here's to a great school year anyway!

Summer Wrap Up

In addition to a couple fun weeks in the mountains with family, here's what we were up to this summer:

Kevin and Papa worked on finishing our basement.

Kellen enjoyed helping and working on his own little projects.

Jenna joined the middle school group at church - her first activity involved a nacho pool and color war!
It took a couple days to get the color out of her face and hair!

Kellen enjoyed the rest of his baseball games! And we had fun watching him play!

June 10-14 - Jenna enjoyed basketball day camp at school.
We went to the zoo a few times.
We enjoyed hummingbird visits.
Kellen passed level 3 swimming lessons!
Friday before Father's Day, Kevin was diagnosed with the flu! So hard to believe that flu was still going around so late in the year! I had to work on Father's Day and the next day. Jenna did a great job taking care of Daddy and babysitting/feeding Kellen. They made this great sidewalk chalk card that Kevin could see from his quarantine room.
June 17-20 - Kids enjoyed VBS and Kevin was sad to miss out (he was supposed to be a group leader, but had to bow out due to the flu).
Crazy Sock Day

Crazy Hair and Hat Day
Kellen created a super hero club.
Tuesday, July 9th - We enjoyed watching Tangled at Focus on the Family and Jenna won a free book by finding the hidden ticket under her chair!
Then, we enjoyed free lunch with friends at Chick-fil-A's Cow Day.
I went to dinner with friends that night and Kevin and the kids went back to Chick-fil-A for free dinner! This time, they went as a siamese twin cow. So funny!
Kellen did extra chores to save up for a Human Torch action figure.
Jenna learned to follow a recipe and make pancakes from scratch.

Sunday, July 14th - after church, we went to Rampart Reservoir for a cookout at one of our favorite spots - Promontory Point.

We enjoyed some fun - climbing, throwing rocks in the water, etc.

Tuesday, July 16th - Papa and I took the kids to lunch, then skating, then to Ghost Town - some of their favorite outings.
Wednesday, July 17th - Mini golf

Then, paddleboarding at Palmer Lake. I wish that I had dressed to try it out. But, I could only stay for a little while before going to work.
July 29th - August 2nd - Jenna went to Eagle Lake day camp.

She had such a fun time with her cousin and friend!

Meanwhile, July 29th - August 2nd - Kevin had band camp, which marked the end of his summer.

Sunday, August 4th - Jenna and Kellen formed a heavy metal band - The Rocking Rhinos. They set up a concert for us complete with concessions.

The first concert ended up being a reunion concert after the band had a major conflict. The concert had to be delayed from the afternoon and rescheduled for the evening. All original songs, some pretty good ones! (See videos in "Summer '19" folder.)

Some of the clever lyrics!

Tuesday, August 6th - We finally made it to the North Pole! Life is changing, kids are more busy - it's our first year to not get a season pass and go to the North Pole a lot.
Kellen loves this ride, but is actually too tall for it this year. The ride operator kindly let him ride for one last time.

We had such a fun time!
Friday, August 9th - Jenna had a fun time sleeping over with her long time friend.
Saturday, August 10th - While I was at work, Papa and Kevin took the cousins to the new Woodland Park Aquatic Center and Kellen jumped off a diving board for the first time! (See videos in "Summer '19" folder.)

Sunday, August 11th - Kevin, Jenna, Kellen, & I enjoyed one last family summer outing and finally went to see The Lion King.

Monday, August 12th - Kellen, Jenna, and I went to the dentist. Then enjoyed mini golf, lunch, and the Dora movie with Papa and the cousins. We thoroughly enjoyed the Dora movie - so fun!

Tuesday, August 13th - Braces for Jenna.
Then, Jenna, Kellen, and I went to see the "Experience the Aurora" show at the Air Force Academy Planetarium. This was our second time to see a show there and we've really enjoyed each one.

Wednesday, August 14th - Jenna had a first practice day of middle school. Mima, Kellen, and I soaked up the very last bit of summer and went to the zoo. It was a great day. And just like that, summer was over. I have never experienced a summer go by so quickly!! I think we could use at least one more month.
